Pinafore + Dungaree Dress Sewing Pattern Round Up

IMG_0187.png

If you haven’t joined the pinafore squad yet, we might just be about to change all that. We think that pinafores belong in every wardrobe, it’s just about finding the right one for you. Here’s a round up of our fave patterns, some we have made and some are just on a very long wish list. All of them are perfect choices if you wanna bring this gem into your daily wear.

The Catherine pinafore is our first Cut One Pair twinning pattern, and we both loved the relaxed, 70s vibe of this pattern and the little trick used to make the pockets. It’s a great one to layer, even a chunky jumper works under beauty!

Here is Catherine, the pinafore dress aka the overalls’ feminine version, perfect for the girl boss that you are. With its 4 pockets and a low rise waist, it is very functional. Catherine has a 70’s look - without the mini skirt part - and can be worn depending on your mood and the vibe you want to send. You can lengthen or shorten the skirt to make it fit your legs’ length, and fix the braces’ fit by cutting them or moving the buttons.

Why we love it:

70s style + relaxed fit

You can’t talk about pinafore sewing patterns without mentioning the iconic Cleo pinafore and dungaree dress. We have both made a lot of these!

Cleo is easy to make and oh so comfortable to wear. Make it dungaree-style with buckles or as a pinafore with buttons, with mini- or knee-length hem, optional centre front split, choice of patch pockets and contrast topstitching. Wear Cleo year round, over a Breton top in the summer or with a roll neck and snuggly tights in winter. Flattering on different shapes, once you try it, you'll wonder how you lived without a dungaree dress!

Why we love it:

Quick & easy to make

Pippi pinafore dress is a gorgeous silhouette that is perfect for teaming with a shirt underneath, or a fitted polo neck. It’s definitely on the list.

The Pippi Pinafore will become your favourite go-to weekend dress. Darts and gently curved sides shape the bib, creating a flattering silhouette for multiple bust sizes. The pleated front skirt and side button placket create a relaxed look while also stepping your sewing repertoire up a few notches.

Straps cross over the back and fasten to the bib using your choice of overall hardware  or buttons (depending on what you have in your stash). And deep, curved patch pockets make sure you have room for everything you might need throughout the day.

Why we love it:

Feminine silhouette and very wearable
